Denis Waitley's Ezine
June 7, 2006
Welcome! To this issue of the Denis Waitley International online newsletter. My goal is to offer valuable, relevant, leading edge, and interesting content, with some innovative and refreshing differences from the other ezines and newsletters you may be receiving.
Warm regards,
1. This Week's Jumpstart
1. This Week's Jumpstart The young violinist just off the bus at the Port Authority asked a New York policeman for directions."Tell me, sir, how do I get to Carnegie Hall?" "Practice." Practice makes permanent. Practice your faulty golf swing on the driving range and you'll remain a high handicap duffer. Practice bad habits and they'll turn from cobwebs into cables to shackle your life. This week consider finding a coach, with a proven track record of success, to teach you the correct swing in anything you are trying to master. Yes, practice makes permanent. Only perfect practice makes perfect!
2. The Champion Within
Article In 1644, a child was born. He lived to be 93 at a time in
history when the average life span was but 35 to 40. He
taught himself his trade and began his career. He often
worked alone with primitive tools, but his focus every day
was to put the best he had into his work. The man made
violins. He labored over each and every process and step to
ensure that he had "autographed" them with excellence and
the best that was in him. He created his own personal
standard of excellence for his craft, and he actually signed
his name on each instrument that passed the test. With over 10 million audio programs sold in 14
languages, Denis Waitley's CD album, "The Psychology of
Winning," is still the all-time best selling program on
self-mastery. To order this Best-Seller or his other
products including, The Platinum Collection and The New
Dynamics of Goal-Setting and save 30%, go to

Denis Waitley You can change your life by changing you habits. Here are some guidepost rules regarding change: Rule 1: No one can change you and you can’t really change anyone else. You must admit your need, stop denying your problem, and accept responsibility for changing yourself Rule 2: Habits aren’t broken, but replaced -- by layering new behavior patterns on top of the old ones. This usually takes a least a year or two. Forget the 30-day wonder ones. I don’t know where motivational speakers got the idea that it takes twenty-one days to gain a new habit. It may take that long to remember the motions of a new skill, but after many years of being you, it takes far longer to settle into a new habit pattern and stay there. Habits are like submarines. They run silent and deep. They also are like comfortable beds, in that they’re easy to get into, but difficult to get out of. So don’t expect immediate, amazing results. Give your skills’ training a year and stick with it, knowing that your new ways can last a lifetime. Rule 3: A daily routine adhered to over time will become second nature, riding a bicycle. Negative behavior leads to a losing lifestyle, positive behavior to a wining lifestyle. Practice make permanent in both cases. 4. The Winner's Edge Coaching Tips Well, last week completed our Coaching Tips on helping our children discover their own self-esteem. For the next two weeks we'll do something a little different. This week I'm simply providing a list of words that are better forgotten... Interested? Keep reading... And next time, I'll give you the list of words that are worth remembering. Words to Forget: I can't I'll try I have to Should have If only Problem Difficult Stressed I, me, my Yes, but Hate This week I challenge you to remove this list of words from both your mental and verbal vocabulary. -- DW
