1. This Week's Jumpstart
The young violinist just off the bus at the Port Authority
asked a New York policeman for directions.
"Tell me, sir, how do I get to Carnegie Hall?"
"Practice."
Practice makes permanent. Practice your faulty golf swing on
the driving range and you'll remain a high handicap duffer.
Practice bad habits and they'll turn from cobwebs into
cables to shackle your life.
This week consider finding a coach, with a proven track
record of success, to teach you the correct swing in
anything you are trying to master. Yes, practice makes
permanent. Only perfect practice makes perfect!

Autograph Your Career and Your Life with Excellence by Denis Waitley
In 1644, a child was born. He lived to be 93 at a time in
history when the average life span was but 35 to 40. He
taught himself his trade and began his career. He often
worked alone with primitive tools, but his focus every day
was to put the best he had into his work. The man made
violins. He labored over each and every process and step to
ensure that he had "autographed" them with excellence and
the best that was in him. He created his own personal
standard of excellence for his craft, and he actually signed
his name on each instrument that passed the test.
Today, some three hundred years later, the name of this
craftsman who was committed to excellence is the benchmark
for the best in musical instruments. His name? Antonio
Stradivari! His Stradivarius violins sell for hundreds of
thousands of dollars because they are the best.
When Stradivari labored, he did not know of the legacy he
was creating. He was doing his best, day in and day out, to
reach his standard of excellence. He didn't spend the extra
time and care to get the accolades of upper management or to
be the top producer in the company. He did it because
excellence was part of his focus, mission, and obsession.
It is easy to do world-class work when a boss is looking or
a supervisor is around. But the test is in what you do when
no one is looking. High achievers have developed the ability
to stay focused when no one else is around. Does your
quality or performance fluctuate based on who is in the
office or which customer you are serving? Excellence is not
something that you can just turn on and off whenever you
feel you need it. It is a habit rooted in your attitude
about your life and career.
Are you just going through the motions day to day, or are
you creating a masterpiece? Autographs are valuable because
they are rare and are tied to excellent performance. In
today's world, superior effort and service are becoming
endangered species. Is the autograph you place on your work
and service each day a Stradivarius or a Michael Jordan? Or
is it unknown, with little value? Autograph your career and
your life with excellence.
Having a firm commitment to excellence, like Stradivari, has
an amazing effect on your achievement motivation. When
people who are simply going through the motions or who are
just working for a paycheck hit a challenge or obstacle,
they often run to their boss and get him or her to do it, or
they procrastinate by getting a cup of coffee or shuffling
the papers on their desk. On the other hand, when
individuals who are committed to excellence hit a similar
challenge, they immediately bounce back with energy, and
they are actually exhilarated by the chance to stretch
themselves to overcome the problem. A commitment to
excellence will create focus, and focus will assist you in
maintaining your positive motivation and in creating a
balanced life.
So, start today and autograph your work with excellence!

3. Seeds of Greatness by
Denis Waitley
You can change your life by changing you habits. Here are some guidepost
rules regarding change:
Rule 1:
No one can change you and you can’t really change anyone
else. You must admit your need, stop denying your problem,
and accept responsibility for changing yourself
Rule 2:
Habits aren’t broken, but replaced -- by layering new
behavior patterns on top of the old ones. This usually takes
a least a year or two. Forget the 30-day wonder ones. I
don’t know where motivational speakers got the idea that it
takes twenty-one days to gain a new habit. It may take that
long to remember the motions of a new skill, but after many
years of being you, it takes far longer to settle into a new
habit pattern and stay there. Habits are like submarines.
They run silent and deep. They also are like comfortable
beds, in that they’re easy to get into, but difficult to get
out of. So don’t expect immediate, amazing results. Give
your skills’ training a year and stick with it, knowing that
your new ways can last a lifetime.
Rule 3:
A daily routine adhered to over time will become second
nature, riding a bicycle. Negative behavior leads to a
losing lifestyle, positive behavior to a wining lifestyle.
Practice make permanent in both cases.

Winner's Edge Coaching Tips
Well, last week completed our Coaching Tips on helping our
children discover their own self-esteem. For the next two
weeks we'll do something a little different. This week I'm
simply providing a list of words that are better
forgotten... Interested? Keep reading... And next time, I'll
give you the list of words that are worth remembering.
Words to Forget:
I can't
I'll try
I have to
Should have
If only
Problem
Difficult
Stressed
I, me, my
Yes, but
Hate
This week I challenge you to remove this list of words from
both your mental and verbal vocabulary.

"This quite possibly could be the most important breakthrough
to take place in personal education in the last 50 years" - Dr. Denis Waitley
I'm very proud to announce one of the most exciting ventures I've ever been a part of:
TSTN - The Success Training
Network. The name says it all. It's literally
Success TV. 24 hours. 7 days a week. And it's available
worldwide!
TSTN has put together the best training faculty the world has ever seen.
Names like Ziglar, Rohn, Proctor and on and on. More than 50 and growing.
Teaching everything from how to make money to how to invest it. They've got
programs for your health, your relationships, your career and your self.
Plus, my show, The Winner's Edge!
And let me repeat --- because it's important --- it's
available worldwide!
In the words of Jim Rohn, "What TSTN has created is the single greatest portal
to relevant, life-changing content ever created." And humbly, I'm just happy
to be a very tiny part of it.
And TSTN can do a lot for your life too. So turn off the Loser's TV
and turn on the Winner's TV. More information is waiting for you at
www.preview1.tstn.com?kbid=1043&sub=dw
By the way, TSTN doesn't have any monthly contracts or obligations.
So it's easy to try. And you'll invest a lot less than you're probably spending
on cable TV every month. If I had to choose one or the other, I'd choose Success! Wouldn't you?
To Your Winning Life! Denis Waitley
P.S. Click the link and be sure and watch the
introductory video. It's worth it.
