Integrity is the Real Bottom Line
The dictionary defines integrity in terms of soundness of
moral character, adherence to ethical principles and being unimpaired. Its
middle English root is related to integrate-to bring together as a whole-and
integral -- complete and whole. These references to wholeness rightly suggest
that integrity affects all aspects of our lives, which is why it is like a
healthy investment portfolio filled with blue chip stocks such as honesty,
fairness, and loyalty.
Integrity that strengthens an inner value system is the real human bottom line.
It means that you don't base your decisions simply on being politically correct.
You do what's right, not what's fashionable. You know that truth is absolute,
not a device for manipulating others. And, it's not just in the major decisions
that this quality is needed.
Complete integrity in little things is no little thing at all. As has been said
many times, "The devil is in the details" and "elephants don't bite, but fleas
do." There are no degrees of integrity. You have it or you don't. Being slightly
dishonest may be a safe adventure for a time. But one day, inevitably, little
details will be noticed and the piper will have to be paid. Your word is more
valuable than a surety bond. What you are speaks so loudly, no one can really
hear what you say. If what you do matches what you say, your life will speak
forcefully indeed. In people, we value honesty more than any other virtue. We
expect it from our leaders. We must demand it from ourselves.
This week and from now on, "seek the truth," and "speak the truth."

2. The Champion Within Weekly Article
Going Full Circle by Dr. Denis Waitley
Great teams, great companies and great families have great
leaders. Real leadership is the process of empowering others
by abdicating one’s power over them.
It means to set others free to become all they can be in an
atmosphere of inspiration, innovation and mutual respect.
The real challenge is to maintain balance and harmony, while
excelling in one professional endeavor. After the season is
over, the champion must change into street clothes and
become a parent, companion, spouse, citizen and neighbor.
The greatest mark of the authentic champion is the way he or
she relates to society beyond the arena or stadium, and
translates superb performance in a specialized field into a
global perspective to benefit this and future generations.
My mission is to be a role model for these words I have
altered slightly from MY CREED by Dean Alfange:
"I do not choose to be a common man or woman. It is my right
to be uncommon, if I can. I seek opportunity, not security.
I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by
having the state look after me. I want to take the
calculated risk, to dream and to build, to fail and succeed.
I will not trade freedom for beneficence, nor my dignity for
a handout. I will never cower before any master, nor bend to
any bully or terrorist threat. It is my heritage to stand
erect, proud and unafraid, to think and act for myself,
enjoy the benefits of my creations and to face the world
boldly, and say, 'This I have done.'"
And, whatever I do, I do in the spirit of win-win. If I help
others win, then I win too. I will win with others, not win
at the expense of others.
This week, seek to find and create win-win solutions for yourself and others,
and make it a winning week!

4. The Winner's Edge Coaching Tips
Hello and welcome to our new topic From Inside to Outside:
Enhancing your self-esteem and that of the significant
others in your life. Core values radiate like rings, as when
a leaf falls in a pond. The paradoxical proverb here is
this: You must feel worthy of the best, but not more worthy
than the rest.
Self-esteem is a profound belief that you deserve to be
happy and successful, combined with a trust or confidence in
an ability to manage life's challenges. It is as necessary
for human development as oxygen, as basic as the carbon from
which diamonds are formed. I used to think that diamonds
were so sought after because they glitter, but discovered
that they're actually so valuable because they're almost
impossible to destroy. Formed at the earth's core and very
rare, they hold their value indefinitely.
The simple truth is that if we have no internalized feelings
of value, we have nothing to share with others. We can need
them, depend on them, look for security in them -- but we
can't share or give an emotion to anyone unless we possess
it. The diamond is inside us, waiting to be discovered,
shaped, and polished.
The value-centered give of themselves freely and graciously,
constantly seeking to empower others. Open and modest, they
have no need for conceit, the opposite of core value.
Feeling good about who they are, and not needing to talk
about their victories or line their walls with celebrity
photos, people with core values spend much of their time
"paying value," as I call it, to others. When praised, they
share the spotlight. When they make mistakes, they view them
as learning experiences and accept responsibility.
So here is our first action tip of ten that will help you
enhance your self-esteem and that of the significant others
in your life:
1. Be more aware of your physical appearance. You don't have
to be the best-looking in any group, just look your best.
Being clean says you care about yourself. If you have a
particular area you constantly struggle with, make a
commitment to join a group with a proven program that will
help support you in overcoming any habit that reduces the
quality of your life.
Next week we'll cover tip two, but this week focus on caring
for yourself and/or someone else!

Dear Mr. Waitley, First of all, congratulations on the most
impressive performance at Mr. Jim Rohn's 2004 Weekend

and the advice of other speakers for several years now, I
learned new things and gained even more insights. By way of
introduction, I am a student of self-development, and avid
reader of your recent E-zines. I just finished re-listening
to your Healthy, Wealthy and Wise -- very, very helpful!
Thank you very much.
